Mae Chaem District
Mae Chaem District is a quiet and peaceful area, friendly people like another area in Northern of Thailand. They have peaceful in their spirit. Situated 150 km. west from Chiang Mai surrounded by Doi Inthanon National Park and Op-Luang National Park. Mae Chaem still has good atmosphere like mountain, forest, paddy field, Mae Chaem River and purity nature include fresh air.
How to get to Mae Chaem District
1. by Car There are 2 route from Chiang Mai to Mae Chaem District.
1st route start from Chiang Mai by Highway no.108 prior to Chom Thong District which passing Hang Dong District San Pathong District Doi Lor Sub-District then turn right at Hod Distrct clock-tower circular leading to Mae Hongson Province, at km.22 turn right to Mae Chaem on Highway no.1088 for 45 km.
2nd route begin on the highway no.108 to Chom Thong District , before Chom Thong District turn right to Highway no.1009 to Doi Inthanon and turn left at km.37 after National Park checkpoint to Mae Chaem on Highway no.1192 for 22 km.
2. by Bus Take local truck (Song Thaeo - yellow color) that service between District at Chiang Mai gate to Wat Phra That Si Chom Thong Wora Wihan Chom Thong District then take Chom Thong-Mae Chaem local truck to Mae Chaem. Total distance is 150 km. taking around 3 hours.
Attraction Places in Mae Chaem District
Phutha En Temple (Wat Phutha En) The temple is located in Chang Khoeng Sub-district, 2 km. north west from Mae Chaem District. According to legend, it was built more than 500 years. One of the most intriguing features in this temple the Water Chapel, a chapel surrounded by water battlements instead of the ordinary cement battlements.
Traditional Cotton Woven Village Mae Chane District a famouse in cotton woven by local pattern and design for a long time. Cotton and natural colour made in their village. The village where the unique northern style Sarong is made is located in Thapha sub-district wat Chan sub district Kong kak sub-district, etc. The uniquely woven fabric is in great demand because of its striking color and indigenous style.
